
This cozy murder mystery is a gem, filled with interesting characters, set in a gorgeous surrounding, moving at great pace. The reader is left wondering if Abilene is a victim or the murderer. When another body is found, they become determined to get to the bottom of the alarming and unfortunate events before someone becomes the next victim. When a customer is found dead, the group begins to wonder if the secretive girl has something to do with the tragedy. bracelet is found amongst the shelves in Miracle Books, which leaves the women with more questions than answers.

The frail girl has bruises and she will not explain how she got them to the women. Estella is a beautician who tries to help her clients find their true selves.Īs the story opens, Nora discovers a young woman who says her name is Abilene, hiding in her bookstore. June works at the hot springs spa where people come to rejuvenate themselves. She bakes a very special comfort scone for her patrons. Hester runs the Gingerbread House bakery. She also has the power to find the right book in her store to ease the pain of a customer who needs help.

She has burn scars on her face and a kind heart. Nora Pennington is the owner of the Miracle Books, and the leader of the book club for women there. We are introduced to a group of women in a book club who seem to have it all, but appearances can be deceiving.

To be honest, though, I picked up the book based on its cover because it has food on it. The story is set in Miracle Spring, where I wish I could live because there is so much magic and love in the community.

The characters are well-written to where I felt the pain of what all the women are going through in their lives. “The Whispered Word” by Ellery Adams is a wonderful cozy mystery with a lot of heart that will take the reader on a roller coaster ride. “In the company of a thousand stories, of a thousand voices, she felt at peace.”
